We are located in Barwon Heads a lovely seaside village on the West Side of the Barwon River where it meets the ocean. Barwon Heads was fist settled in 1875 and was a popular holiday destination for the surrounding area. It is located only 100 klms from Victoria's capital Melbourne and 26 klm from Geelong, Victoria’s largest provincial town.
Barwon Heads boasts a Marine Sanctuary on its doorstep at the mouth of the river and a State Game Reserve - Lake Connewarre. The Sanctuary includes the wrecks of two ships, situated on the outer part of the reef. One of these the Orungal, can be seen sticking out of the water to the north of the sanctuary.
Barwon Heads has a fantastic selection of restaurants, speciality shops, different types of accommodation and lots of activities to do. 13th Beach is another of our local attractions, which is great for surfing and swimming.
Barwon River is a safe waterway, which winds up to Lake Connewarre and is perfect for boating, sightseeing and fishing. The estuary is filled with the magnificent mangroves and is home to the elusive Mulloway. The river also boasts a large number of other fish varieties and an abundance of bird life.
